Rock-a-bye Baby

A fresh new slipcover to soothe the mom while she rocks her baby to sleep. I pre-washed this brushed denim fabric in HOT water, and dried with a HOT setting to induce maximum shrinkage before constructing the slipcover. This slipcover was constructed a little looser anticipating that it may need frequent washing, and I recommended that she spray protect the fabric to prepare for the new baby.

Paris chic slipcover

This slipcover is for one of my favorite repeat customers. This was a nice change from the slipcovers I always create. This pink slipcover with black cording and a corset detail in the back was so much fun to make. My customer has great taste, and has a lot of fun decorating.

This was my first time creating a corset detail and it was a lot of fun. I hope I get more requests for this in the future.

The rounded back was a challenge. Whenever you see a picture of a slipcover for a rounded back chair there will always be a pillow on the seat to cover the wrinkles on the inside back. It is hard to get a smooth fit in this area especially without a seat cushion. I wanted to show one picture without a pillow because I was so pleased with the results. I used advice from the slipcover master Shirley Hendry Walsh on how to manage the tuck-in area with a pleated collar. The back tucked in smooth and neat. Thank you Shirley for your expertise and willingness to share your slipcover knowledge.

A Chair and a Loveseat

I really need to make my blog titles more creative. Instead I get right to the point. This is a beautiful slipcover done in a white denim with black cording. I took several pictures from different angles to show how the black cording defines the shape of the chair. I fell in love with this slipcover. She wanted the legs to show so I made the skirt a little longer than the existing skirt. This customer called me after winning one of my office chair slipcovers in a raffle. It was nice to see the slipcovered office chair being used in her office. Darn, I forgot to take a picture of it when I dropped off the slipcovers.

I also did a loveseat slipcover for this same customer. The fabric is a mattelasse and washed beautifully. I added the cording down the center of the back to help the slipcover conform to the shape of the loveseat and finished the bottom with the ever popular mini knife-pleats. I copied what the upholsterer had done. I gave new life to the seat cushions by wrapping them in dacron.

Linen Blend Slipcover

My latest slipcovers were done in a beautiful linen/cotton blend. This fabric was a dream to work with. It looked even better after it was washed. The back cushions were a little limp so I added a dacron wrap and plumped them back up. The cushions were good as new.

King Wings

This is a pair of beautiful King wing chairs. I nicknamed them "King Wings" because they are the tallest wing chairs I have seen. These are the kind of wing chairs you would find in a castle. My customer inherited these beauties and wanted to update the look. The fabric is a mini animal print on a linen fabric. She wanted them finished with a mini ruffle skirt. I really like the results.

Mini Knife Pleats

It seems that all the calls lately are for wing chairs. This was a fun set to do in white with a mini knife pleated skirt. Wing chairs look great in pairs and at a table make a cozy seating area. More wing chairs and a couple office chair slipcovers coming soon.

Chic Unique has moved!

My friend Carrin Andress owner of Chic Unique has relocated to downtown Elyria at 120 Middle Ave., Elyria, OH 44035. Carrin will open the store once a month for a big sale. Look at the crowd she had at her Grand Opening on November 20. She sold out in little over an hour.



Carrin had so many beautiful items. I love her displays and I must buy some mirror windows. I am hoping to finish some new slipcovered furniture for her next sale which will be on December 18. Finish your Christmas list with some unique items.

Slipcovers with ties --Oh my!

The open arm chair slipcovers take more time but they are well worth the end result. These slipcovers are completely lined. I really like the way they turned out. My customer took these great photos for me.

This picture below, inspired the look for these slipcovers. My customer especially liked the mini ruffle detail. However, I don't remember the website this picture was from. This chair is from Wisteria.




These dining chair slipcovers were done for the same customer. I love this look! White slipcovers are my favorite by far!!

Findlay Holiday Home Tour

Main Street looked like Christmas central at the Findlay Holiday Home Tour (minus the snow of course). I snapped a few additional pictures of the slipcovers. I only wish I could have spent more time in this beautiful town.

Although all of the homes were beautiful, I have to admit without bias, my customer's home stood out above the rest.

White Slipcovers with Mini Knife Pleats

I had a lot of fun working with my latest client. She wanted all white slipcovers with some cute knife pleat details. The wooden arm chair slipcover was inspired by a picture of a slipcover on the Country Living Magazine website.

Her home is going to be featured in the 2009 Biennial Holiday Homes Tour in Findlay, OH.

The slipcovers turned out beautiful!!

These Ethan Allen wingchairs were a real challenge to slipcover with the exposed wood and open backs. They have kind of a french country feel to them. I am so happy the way the slipcovers turned out. They are sooooooo beautiful! They are my favorite slipcovers so far.

Beautiful Transformation

This is a great before and after picture. I unzipped the attached cushion and made a separate cushion cover which gave the chair a fresh new look. The customer chose the same fabric as was chosen for the couch slipcover and now the living room looks pulled together. The customer was able to use the furniture she already had which was still in good shape.
